Orange Cat Survives Earthquake in the Heart of the City: Vets and Emergency Teams Rush to the Rescue

On the night of April 6, 2025, a massive earthquake struck Bangkok, causing widespread damage and chaos. Among the most severely affected structures was the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) building in the Chatuchak district, which collapsed violently. Amid the wreckage and devastation, a glimmer of hope emerged—a female orange cat was found alive beneath the rubble, capturing the hearts of rescue teams and the public alike.

Shortly after the incident, search and rescue teams, field veterinarians, and staff from Erawan Pet Hospital swiftly responded to the scene. That same night, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt arrived to oversee the operations and boost morale among the first responders.

The orange cat was found in a weakened state, suffering from approximately 5% dehydration and a high fever—likely due to being trapped under the collapsed building in the sweltering heat. Veterinarians administered urgent first aid, providing IV fluids and closely monitoring her condition, which began to steadily improve.

This rescue wasn’t just a heartwarming moment amid disaster—it also symbolized compassion for even the smallest lives, which are often overlooked in times of crisis. Volunteers, emergency responders, and government personnel came together in a united effort—not only to help human victims but also to care for pets, who are beloved members of many families.

This incident stands as a powerful testament to the kindness and solidarity of the Thai people, who leave no one behind—human or pet.
