On March 28, 2025, Thailand was impacted by a powerful earthquake with its epicenter in Myanmar. The quake caused widespread damage, including the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General building in the Chatuchak district of Bangkok, resulting in significant loss of life and property.

Search and Rescue Mission: The Role of K9 USAR Dogs
In such life-or-death situations, search and rescue missions depend on the collaboration of various sectors—government agencies, private organizations, and volunteers. At the heart of this mission are the K9 USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) dogs, who play a crucial role in locating survivors trapped beneath collapsed structures.

K9 USAR Thailand deployed 11 dogs—including K9 “Naree” and K9 “Sahara”—to assist in the operation, joining forces with other K9 units, totaling 29 dogs. These dogs successfully helped identify the locations of over 70–80 missing persons. Their exceptional sense of smell and agility offer hope in the most desperate moments.

Volunteer Veterinarians: The Team Behind the Four-Legged Heroes
Amid the tension and uncertainty of a disaster, Thai veterinarians have stepped in as vital support, ensuring the K9 teams remain healthy and fit for duty. These volunteers conduct physical examinations, treat injuries, and provide essential equipment such as oxygen tanks, medications, medical supplies, and other veterinary tools.

Erawan Pet Hospital is proud to take part in this critical mission. Dr. Busayamas Jeimvijitkorn, executive of Erawan Pet Hospital Network, along with Dr. Kornwan Chaisalee, Director of Erawan Pet Hospital Lopburi Center, and Dr. Nisachon Sangsuwan, Director of Erawan Tiwanon Center, joined forces with their veterinary teams and staff as volunteer responders. They provided care for dogs from various K9 units, including K9 USAR, United SAR K9, Thailand Volunteer, as well as police and military working dogs performing their duties with unwavering strength.
